whether or not you're gay.. you have to read this book!

TIPPING THE VELVET by SARAH WATERS

it is one of the best books ive read so far. and it made me tear! once i started on it last night, i couldnt put it down. and ive just completed it like ten minutes ago! :) it is basically about nan king, this queer "tom" girl who was living in england in the 1880s.. and her queer journey as she discovers love. or rather perhaps at some point of time, lust.

i borrowed it from the library. but im so gonna buy the book now!! anyway.. i got a shock when i collected it from the library (yes, national library can make reservations one you know.. very cheap...) and saw that it was under english-gay. hahaha. i mean i knew that it was a book about the queer people. but i didnt expect the national library to classfy such books under english-gay.... hmmm.

apparently a movie/show was made about this movie. and its selling for only S$25 on yahoo auctions...... this is btw how the cover of the dvd looks like. the book cover is very different. its errr brown background, and a pair of pink shoes in the middle. you must must must read it!



and i thought i had my queer desires cribbed and chilled and chastened.....
